Starlight Strays Sanctuary (SSS) stands as a beacon of hope and compassion for the feline community in Pittsburgh. Founded and operated by dedicated veterinary professionals, SSS is an animal welfare organization committed to illuminating the lives of at-risk felines. Our core mission revolves around reducing overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), delivering high-quality veterinary care, and extending a helping hand to those with unique needs.
At the heart of our sanctuary is a constellation of care, where empathy serves as our guiding star. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats, ensuring each feline receives the specialized attention they deserve. With a focus on community collaboration, we engage with veterinary clinics, local businesses, and government entities to make a lasting impact on feline welfare. While our focus is first and foremost on the felines we serve, we take a holistic approach to situations of cat owners in need and do our best to keep cats with their owners whenever possible.

Our Story
Founded in November 2023 by siblings Chandler and Corey, and Chandler's partner, Daniel, Starlight Strays Sanctuary is not just a cat rescue. It’s a labor of love, empathy, and an unwavering passion for feline welfare.
Born just 13 months apart and raised in a household of ardent animal lovers, Corey and Chandler's bond extends past familial to a shared dream of making a lasting impact on the lives of cats in need. After graduating from high school in Lancaster, PA, both siblings found their way to Pittsburgh, PA to pursue higher education at the University of Pittsburgh. For Chandler, that was not before meeting Daniel at her first job, where the two became friends and ultimately fell in love.
Daniel and Chandler, partners in life and cat-loving enthusiasts, have opened their home to foster an incredible 236 cats and kittens since embarking on their fostering journey in 2020. Their shared commitment to providing temporary homes for these furry companions has been the heart and soul of our mission. Meanwhile, Corey experienced their own fostering journey by working with three different Pittsburgh-based organizations since moving to the area.
After years of volunteering and fostering for various organizations, this dynamic trio decided to forge their own path, combining forces to create Starlight Strays Sanctuary. Chandler, a veterinary technician and former Vice President of a local cat rescue, adds a unique blend of medical knowledge and hands-on rescue experience to our team. Corey, with a background in animal rescue in Pittsburgh, brings invaluable expertise gained from years of dedicated volunteer work. Daniel, a resourceful and analytic tech-guru brings a much-needed technical brain and skillset to the team.
